Do you remember when I showed you how to put a wig in a ponytail, a zillion and a half years ago?
Today we’re continuing the updo conversation, and I’m going to show you how I wear my hair in this style (hair shown is Jon Renau Top Secret in 10H16):
Alright, alright, it’s kinda hard to see what’s going on here.
For those of you that have seen my hair up either on here, on Instagram or on YouTube…you’ve seen this style.
I’m not a fussy gal, and I take next-to-no pleasure in styling. So, I wear this style 99% of the time if I’m not wearing my hair down.
I love it because it’s easy to do with a hair topper, and the style sits close to your head…so there’s no tugging or pulling on your delicate bio hair.
Watch how I do my updo. First from the front, and then from the back!
I bought this exact clip from Ulta!
There is also a similar one (if not the same) at Sally Beauty Supply, here.
Let me know if you have any questions on this updo!
Got something you’d like answered in an upcoming Ask Me post? Shoot me a note with your request. 🙂

I have been struggling to find a clip that would keep my longish topper secure in an updo. The clip you suggested works great! Thank you!
Yay! Glad you love it! It’s definitely my go-to. It’s never broken (and it’s yearssssssssss old), but I have a backup just in case.
Thanks soooooooooo much for the clip link!! I just ordered two! Thank you for everything you do Lauren. You help soooo many people!!
Margie, this clip is life-changing! 🙂
Thanks so much for this video. It shows even more than one you did some time back. I think your’s looks especially good because of the length, which is longer than mine. I’ll keep trying tho –
As always, appreciate what you do for us!
Love ya, LL! 🙂
I asked about a ponytail with a topper but I love this style so much more!! I love to wear earrings and this style is perfect to show them off!! I do have a question about hair glue. I want to try it but I’m afraid it will pull the little hairs around my thin spots. How do you deal with that? I’m so glad I found you!!
Trish, I’ve been doing the glue thing for years now – and my hair loss has not been affected in the area I apply it. Give it a whirl!
